Baphomet
The darkest and most daring guitar ever made... ... Do you Dare ..?
- combination mahogany, ebony and purpleheart body
- hard maple top
- maple neck through
- Floyd Rose tremolo
- EMG pickups
- six strings
- 24 frets
- black hardware
The Design
The guitar was designed based on the so-called Sigil of Baphomet, which has quite peculiar history. Back in 14th century, the order of Knights Templar was accused by the Inquisition for worshipping the Idol of Baphomet. And while the masons still deny the fact up to date, I bet they are guilty as hell. The Church of Satan made this sign it's official symbol. The pictured guitar is B1: the first in a series of six, using the same design, but different inlay materials. A word on inlay: there are about 150 pieces (I lost my count somewhere down the road) of hand-cut inlay. Materials include eleven different types of shell and wood. No computers, automation or CNC routers were used.
Why It Is This Guitar So Great
First of all, you cannot describe the sound of Baphomet anything other than pure evil. The EMG pickups (which we believe are the best ones out there), mahogany body and the hard-rock maple top do the trick. Another great thing is that for a hardwood guitar this baby is surprisingly light, due to the body design. Notice, how the highst frets are "out in the open" - that is for all you shredders out there. And the last, but not least, DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME! Please, contact us for pricing, questions and comments.
Price
The current model - B1 is priced at $10,000 plus shipping and is currently available for purchase, please look for payment details at the order page. The price includes the custom-made fitted case also by UVA Instruments and a limited lifetime warranty to the original owner.
We have also received many e-mails asking us if we can make this model without any inlays. Although we believe that the beauty of Baphomet is in its elaborate inlay work; however, we will be able to make one with just a paint job instead of inlays. We would also like to make it clear that it is available in any modifivation: both bass and guitar, 6-, 7- or even an 8-string. The "painted Baphomet" price will vary depending on the modification anywhere between $2,500 and $4,000. Please, contact us with the details to get a better estimate.
